YAY for comments! YAY for posts!!

I’ve been trying for months to get my comment box to work on this blog. I was nearly about to quit the blogging world all together, when alas a blogger update has allowed my comment box to work again. Not really sure why it wasn’t working, but I’m just glad it’s working now. Which means…. I shall post again!! Yet again I will make a few long posts, updating on our life events since the last post. But after this I am out of excuses to not post consistently, so I shouldn’t have to make such long posts.

Easter 2010

IMG_2639

I made my most elaborate meal thus far in our marriage for Easter. It included honey baked ham, scalloped potatoes from scratch, cheese cake and some other items in the picture. It was delicious, and I’m pretty sure topped the V-Day meal.

We matched by accident, but decided we wanted to match our curtains anyway.

Daniel and Owen moved a three hundred pound couch from downstairs to upstairs, without hurting themselves! (The latter was more impressive.)

In April, Daniel also had his Pass and Review for ROTC. He’s the last one in line walking right (just to the right of the white line).

The cake. It’s actually a bunch of cupcakes, and then frosted over to look like a cake. Brilliant!! Whoever thought of that deserves an award (you may provide me that in the form of cash.)

Lastly, for this post. We took two weeks and went to Las Vegas with the maternal parentals, then the two of us went to Zion and Bryce Canyon. I split up the trip to two posts, so this wouldn’t get too ridiculously long.

IMG_2836

On the way to Vegas we stopped in St. George, went to the temple, and stayed at Snow Canyon National Park.

We are attempting to get our picture in front of each state’s “welcome to” sign. Eventually we want to take each picture and cut it into the shape of the respective state. Then create a map of the US.

Events of 2010 thus far…

So far 2010 has been a great year. We witnessed the death of a trashcan, a tree, and my hair. We learned how to safely transport toxic waste to a neutralization zone. We roasted marshmallows from the comfort of our own home. And pretty much least exciting, I turned the unremarkable age of 23.

Here are some pictures documenting the journey thus far…

IMG_2425

Daniel, while trying to do the sweet thing of taking out the trash, put the lid of the trashcan on the stove top. Not realizing it was on, decided to go running. Upon returning three hours later we found a nice hole in the lid. We kept the trashcan, but it just hasn’t been the same since the incident.

IMG_2432

Daniel and Owen put in some glassboards for some businesses. Glassboards are like white boards but way cooler and more professional.

IMG_2434

Which means only way cool and professional guys can install them.

IMG_2444

Dan participated in a detail with some friends for ROTC.

IMG_2446

He looks so sharp!

There was a cake auction. This was the cake we won.

Baby Jastal and Daniel’s pouty face. Precious.

IMG_2474

We had a pretty chill Valentine’s Day. Our gift to each other was our time. We pretty much just hung out, watched TV, and I made dinner for Dan. I think it was the hardest I’ve ever worked for a meal. We’ll see how often that happens in the future.

IMG_2524

I turned 23, and Daniel threw a party for me.

Meagan and Kimberly took me out for a belated birthday activity day.

IMG_2607

And we helped Owen cut up part of a tree.

IMG_2598

IMG_2604

I was pretty excited. I’d never used an axe before.

IMG_2611

On Saturday we went on a hike with Meagan so that she could teach us about experimental education stuff.

IMG_2616

In this case, using a variety of random items (frisbee, ropes, etc) we had to get a can of “toxic waste” to a neutralization zone, without touching the can and remaining four feet away at all times. After about six attempts we got it. Yea, we didn’t go to college for nothing.

Afterwards Meagan led a discussion time where we talked about what we learned and how we worked together. It was a very bonding experience.

The view was also really pretty.

IMG_2631

Lastly, just recently we discovered that our space heater can double as a marshmallow roaster. Well, more of a warmer than an actual roaster. But still, just as fun.

Well, now I am all caught up. If I stay focused than maybe I won’t have to have such long posts and so many pictures. Until next time…. which hopefully will be soon.
